Pokeno School

WHO ARE WE?

The Pokeno School PTA is run by a small but passionate team of parents. We all volunteer our time to help make the school an even better place for our children. The PTA is run by President, Secretary, and Treasurer and a small but highly engaged and involved group of committee members, some of whom have been on the PTA for many years!

WHAT DO WE DO?

We meet once a month in the school’s staff room to debrief past events and plan and organize exciting activities for the kids and school community. Our biggest events each year are Gala Day (November) and Quiz Night (May) but we also hold smaller events like the Easter Egg Hunt, Dressup Day & Sausage Sizzle and organise other little activities for the kids during school hours. We also liaise with local businesses for fundraising and to organise donations.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO THAT WE FUNDRAISE?

Whatever we fundraise, everything goes back to the school!  For example, throughout the years, the PTA has helped fund the playground, the roller walls under the roof and the rugby posts on the field. We are currently allocating a huge chunk of our fundraiser money to the construction of the new school hall - everything we raised at the recent Quiz Nights will go directly towards the new hall.  We also help the kids out directly: Just this term, we paid for winter activity boxes for each classroom!

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

We always love seeing new faces at the monthly PTA meetings, so feel free to come along to these - we're a very friendly bunch of parents! But we also understand that not everyone has time for that - we need helpers for most of the events we organise and each and everyone of you would bring valuable skills to the table! We also appreciate any ideas you might have, for example for events, activities, etc. so those are always welcome, too. Every little bit helps!  You can contact us at pta@pokeno.school.nz. It would be so great to hear from you.
