My name is Courtney Senn and I will be teaching in Room 3 this year as a part of the Ruru Whanau. I have been teaching within the junior curriculum for five years, spending one year focusing on Music, Drama, Dance and Visual arts. I have recently moved to Tuakau and I am excited to learn more about Pokeno and its wonderful community.
I am passionate about the Arts and enjoy fostering a love of creativity in the classroom. I work hard to encourage a positive and fun classroom where students feel valued.
In my spare time, I love to paint, sing, foster kittens and cats from the SPCA and volunteer at the local drama association.
I look forward to working together and getting to know you all.

My name is Jacqui Methven and it is my pleasure and privilege to walk alongside your children on their learning journey - I am delighted to be teaching our new entrants in Reception Room.
My background is in primary teaching, but most recently I have worked and trained in the early childhood sector where I have been able to develop my philosophy of play-based learning. I am excited to combine my primary and early childhood knowledge and experience to benefit our five year olds beginning school.
I live in Pukekohe with my family and am excited to be a part of the Pokeno team.
Rm 5 (Yr 1)
Rm 6 (Yr 1/2)
My Name is Liz O'Brien and I am excited to be teaching in Room 2. This is my first year at Pokeno School and I have been teaching for around 10 years, predominately in the junior area.
I am passionate about the arts and literacy and enjoy bringing this into the classroom. In my spare time I like spending time with my family and friends.
I look forward to teaching your children this year and supporting them in their learning journey.
Rm 7 (Yr 2)
I’m Tracey McVeigh and I’m excited to be teaching in Room 7 this year.
I’m originally from Hamilton and have lived in Pukekohe for several years after living and working in the UK. Living in London gave me the opportunity to travel extensively through Europe visiting many amazing places. But there is no place like home.
I’m an experienced teacher, and have spent many years working in South Auckland. I have a passion for teaching and learning and especially enjoy watching students grow in independence as learners and having those ‘aha’ moments.
In my spare time, I like to be with my family and friends, being active - walking and cycling, travelling and ‘upcycling’ old furniture.
I look forward to getting to know students and their families, celebrating their successes together.
Rm 11 (NE / Yr1)
My name is Laura Turton and I am really excited about being a teacher at Pokeno School.
I am thrilled to be a New Entrant teacher who starts all the new students on their learning journey. I am looking forward to leading the junior school whanau - The Ruru Whanau. You will find me in Room 11 with a welcoming smile.
I moved to Pokeno with my family in 2016 and thoroughly love being part of the Pokeno community. I am married to Shaun and have two beautiful daughters, Jessie-lee who is 22 and Jamie who is 11.
I am an experienced teacher of 20 years and I have a real passion for teaching. I believe building positive relationships and developing a fun and safe learning environment are essential in order for children achieve in their learning. I love to have fun with my students and believe laughter is an important part of the classroom.
In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family and to go for walks. I love reading and take every opportunity to read a book. I also love spending time at Waihi Beach with all of my family.
I am really looking forward to getting to know you all a little more during the year!
