Hi, my name is Caela (pronounced Kyla).
I am part of our Learning Assistant team here at Pokeno School. I love seeing how enthusiastic all of our children are to learn everyday, and it’s an honour to be working along side them on their learning journeys. I live in Pokeno with my husband and 3 children. I love spending time with my family outdoors dirt biking, upcycling furniture and supporting my children with their sports and hobbies.

Kia ora, my name is Caitlin!

I joined the Pōkeno School teacher aide team in 2025 after completing my undergraduate study in Psychology. Working with children, is something I care deeply about and find incredibly rewarding. In my role I support students in their learning, social engagement, and overall well-being.

I enjoy building positive relationships with our students and helping create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Hi! My name is Hilary McCurdy and I joined the team at Pokeno School as a Learning Assistant in 2022. I love working at the school with the amazing children and awesome staff.

I have lived in Pokeno since 2009 after living in Auckland for many years.

I enjoy walking and can often been seen walking the streets of Pokeno. I also enjoy different varieties of crafting including painting rocks.

I have been working at Pokeno school for 2 years. What I enjoy most about my role is building relationships and seeing learners grow in confidence around our kura.

My passion is supporting every single learner in all areas of the school.

I’ve been at the school for over a year. I enjoy helping and supporting students with their learning.
I am passionate about helping all learners in the classroom.
I enjoy building relationships with learners and seeing their growth.

You’ll find me in Room 9 supporting our class our outside on duty.

I joined Pokeno School 2026, you'll find me in Kea Whanau. I came from an ECE background. I love to see our children learn & grow. I spend my spare time with family & all our animals

I have been living in Pōkeno since 2019 when I moved to New Zealand with my husband and 2 boys from South Africa.

I have previous experience in ECE and joined the team at Pōkeno School as a Learning Assistant in Term 1 2026.

What I enjoy most about my role is seeing and celebrating the progress and growth in the learners and building a good relationship with them all.
