I'm Karen Houghton and I'm super excited to be teaching in Room 2 for 2017.
My family and I moved to Pokeno early in 2015 and we love the community and way of life here in Pokeno. I am married to Bevan and we have 2 young children; Ava who is 4 and Nate who is 18 months. Pokeno School is a fantastic little school with amazing children and I am loving being a part of the school.
I'm an experienced teacher, having been a Senior Teacher for a number of years in previous schools in South Auckland. I'm passionate about teaching and get so excited to see the progress children make and helping them love learning as much as I do. I aim to create a fun and positive classroom culture as I believe that learning happens best when children are engaged and happy to be here. I like to think I have a good sense of humor (although the groans I often get at my jokes from the class would suggest otherwise!). Writing and The Arts are two of my passions although I love teaching all subjects.
In my spare time, I love to go for walks with my family and our labrador Mason, playing the piano, reading and doing crafting/making things.
I look forward to getting to know more of the people in our school community over the year

Kia Ora,
I'm Elise Fraundorfer. I am so excited to have become apart of the Pokeno School Community.
I grew up in Tauranga, and have taught in schools in Auckland,Tauranga and the UK.
I have recently moved to the area from Tauranga and am loving the rural aspect that the area has.
I am passionate about sport, dancing and animals. I have two horses that I love to compete in show jumping and eventing.
I look forward to working with you and getting to know your children, to help them reach their learning goals.
