Kia ora! Welcome back to Term 3, 2022.
I hope you have all had an amazing holiday and managed to get some well deserved rest, and relaxation! I know my whanau did.
We have an exciting, jam packed Term ahead of us in Term 3, with many changes in store for Karearea Whanau and Room 8. So without further ado....here's Term 3!
Term 3 Reminders
- Please regularly check out the School Website, Facebook Page and Hero for important updates, changes or information relevant to things happening at School.
- Our Tech days at Maramarua School remain on even week's on a Friday. Students will need:
- sturdy/covered shoes (no jandals!)
- a hat, lunchbox and water bottle
- a face mask for travelling on the bus
- appropriate covered clothing (as you are working in a kitchen, with hot cooking surfaces)
- your pencil case, including glue stick - The tech bus leaves school at 8:30am sharp, please be at school before 8:20am for the roll and then to be taken down to the bus - please do not be late.
- Please bring a smile and a great attitude!

Term 2
WELCOME BACK!
Kia ora and Welcome back to Term 2, Room 8. I hope everyone has enjoyed their Easter holiday's and managed to have some much needed rest and family time. The new term starts on Monday 2nd May. Please keep an eye out on the School Website, Facebook Page and Hero for important updates, changes or information relevant to things happening at School. I look forward to seeing you all soon. Please remember this page will be used for notices and the term tabs will be where students work is displayed.
Orienteering
Year 8, 2022 Teams
Franklin Zone school orienteering championship competition is to be held in Term 2, on Tuesday 10th May, at Eden Christian Academy, LaValla Estate. If you have made our school team here is some information you might need to know. You will be traveling by bus.
Our team's start times are between 11:00 and 11:15am, so we will leave Pokeno School at approximately 10:15am and returning to school before 1:00pm.
Students competing on the day will need: their drink bottle and snacks (we will take bags), a warm jumper and MUST wear closed footwear (no jandals). Please ensure any students with asthma have their required medication. Pokeno School sports shirt will be provided.

At Maramarua School
Kia Ora Room 8 Whanau. Our first Technology visit this term is Friday 6th May (we have swapped days with another school for our first visit). Our Technology days will go back to being on an even week Friday for the remainder of the term (so our second visit will be Friday 27th May) As per term 1, the Technology bus will leave Pokeno School at 8:30am, please ensure your child is at school before the 8:25am roll call. This means they shold be at school by 8:20, ready and waiting under the roof with all of their equipment and belongings. All students are required to wear masks on the bus and while at technology.
Students will need:
-To wear sturdy/covered shoes (no jandals!)
-Take a hat, lunchbox and water bottle
-Bus leaves school at 8:30am, please be at school before 8:20am
-Take your pencil case, including glue stick
-Bring a smile and a great attitude!

TO ROOM 8, 2022!
Kia ora and Welcome to Room 8, 2022.
I hope everyone has enjoyed their holiday's and managed to unwind over the Christmas break. The new School year is just around the corner; with our start date for Term 1 being Tuesday 8th February. Please keep an eye out on the School Website, Facebook Page and Hero for any important updates or information relevant to the start of the school year.
This year, our classroom webpage will be set up slightly differently. This page will be used for Classroom notices, reminders and updates. Student work and achievements will be shared via the Room 8 tabs down the side of the page corresponding to the Term the learning was completed. At Maramarua School

swimming
At Tuakau Pool's
We will be leaving school at 9:20am and returning at 11:45am. At the pool, the students will be working on swimming skills and also small ball skills while their group is not swimming. Students will need their togs, and towel as well as their usual lunch and drink bottle etc. They will also need to bring a hat.
Basketball
With Franklin Bulls
We are super lucky to have the Franklin Bulls Basketball club coming in to do coaching sessions with our middle, senior and intermediate school classes.
We have 2 sessions planned for Room 8 to be working with the Franklin Bulls coaching team.
These sessions will be on:
- Wednesday 2nd March 2022
- Wednesday 9th March 2022
I am looking forward to these coaching sessions and I know everyone in Room 8 is too!! Bring it on!
