TERM 4 2021

Learning from Home Information

Welcome back to Term 4!

Once again we have found ourselves in the situation of learning at home. We are continuing with the same e-learning template giving you recommended learning activities and choices. We appreciate that everyone’s situation is different so please prioritise Whānau's health and wellbeing into your daily schedules.

Welcome to the new Room 11. Mrs Hemi will be working with you and is excited to meet you all. To the Year 5 students, this is all familiar. To the year 4 students, please breathe and take time to look over this. Do what you can, enjoy looking and seeing what is available, maybe look at what your old Tui class is doing too. Remember we are here to support your learning.

Mrs Fraser, Mrs Hemi, Mrs Kanon, Mr Wiz, Miss W, Miss Delany, and Miss Day

Week 8 E-Letters

Year 5/6 - Rooms 8, 9, 10, 11 & 13

Meri Kirihimete Whanau and Welcome to Week 8,

Here is the final E-Letter (Week 8 of Term 4) for the year. We often talk about learning being a journey.  Well, what a journey this term’s learning has been!  As a team, we do hope that you have found the learning activities to be beneficial and enjoyable.  We have had a lot of fun putting them together.   This week we have again got our “must do” and our “optional” activities in our E-Letter.  Would be great to see some more of our Pokeno Learners getting themselves onto the Mathletics leaderboard for New Zealand or the world!  Remember with the optional activities you can choose to do some or all of these activities.

If you are not returning to school please contact the office to organise a time to collect your stationery, art and class photos. These have already been bagged up for you and are ready for you to collect when you organise a time.

Have a well deserved holiday break and we will see you in 2022.

Year 7/8 - Rooms 12 & 14

Good Morning Year 7 & 8's!
Welcome to Week 8 of Term 4.  Only 19 more sleeps till Christmas, and a week until we break for the school holidays. We hope that you are all enjoying our online learning at the moment, no matter where your classroom is currently located; at school, home or a mixture of both.  Its been great to see so many of your smiling faces at school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday's and we look forward to another fun week of learning and challenges with you all. This weeks email communication can be found here if for some reason you have not received it in your emails.  It can also be found on our Kea Whanau webpage, Hero and Google Classroom.  Have a magical week, where ever your learning may take place, and dont forget to contact Mrs Fraser or Miss W if you need assistance with anything while learning from home.  Catch you all online!

Term 4

Week 7 E-Letters

Year 5/6 - Rooms 8, 9, 10, 11 & 13

Welcome to Week 7!

It was so good to see so many of our students back at school last week.  With this being our second week of being back at school part time our learning will continue to be based on the learning activities in our e-letter.  So, if you are still learning from home you aren’t missing out but we are missing you.  Thank you again for the support with the activities in the e-letters.  We, as teachers, have been really excited to see the continued interest in the activities.

Here is our E-Letter for this week (Week 7 of Term 4). This week the ‘optional’ activities provide opportunities to make a Christmas Caravan and decorate it, complete some geometric art, grow some rock candy and create a nature collage. You also could go on a Safari walk and play some card games with your family.  Remember you can choose to do some or all of these activities.  Don’t forget you can go back to previous e-letters and complete tasks. There are some great activities to work on.

Please keep sharing photos with me so your teacher can add your learning to the page.  Have a fun week!

Year 7/8 - Rooms 12 & 14

Good Morning Year 7 & 8's
Welcome to Week 7, Term 4.  Only 26 more sleeps till Christmas!
Attached here is a copy of the email that was sent out to yourselves and your Whaanau this morning.  Please make sure that you thoroughly read this email as it has some important information regarding school resources and personal equipment. This correspondence has been sent out to you via Email, Google Classroom, Hero, Room 12 Webpage and Kea Whaanau Webpage, so make sure you check it out using one of these platforms.  A copy of this weeks Google Classroom Timetable is also attached to this post, so that you are aware of our upcoming tasks for the week. It was an absolute pleasure for both Miss W and I to see so many of your smiling faces back at school last week, and to those who are still doing 100% online learning, thank you for your patience with marking and response times as we juggle online learning, learning bubbles & part-time learning. We look forward to seeing you all online in our Google Classroom, or in the ACTUAL classroom at school again this week for another fun packed week of exploring, experiences and learning together. Miss W and Mrs Fraser.

Week 6 E-Letters

Year 5/6 - Rooms 8, 9, 10, 11 & 13

This week, 22-26 November, will be an exciting week for some of you as you come back to school for 3 days. Others will continue learning from home. For all learners at school or at home we will continue to focus our attention on the e-letter and tasks from there.  We will still expect the “Must Do’s” of Mathletics, Reading Eggspress and Writing to continue.

Please if you are at home send us some writing so we can put it on our webpages. This week the ‘optional’ activities provide opportunities to make some gloop, create secret messages and go on an imaginary holiday. We also encourage you to listen to some music while drawing and create some 3D boxes to decorate. There are lots of fun activities to keep your mind and body busy here. Remember you can choose to do some or all of these activities.  Also, if you missed out on an activity from a previous week it is ok to go back and do that one too. We are keen for you to explore and look at activities that interest you.

Don't forget to share photos and work with your teacher.

Year 5/6 - Rooms 8, 9, 10, 11 & 13

Welcome to Week 4

This week (Term 4, Week 4 E-Letter) we have a variety of fun activities to go with your online platform work (Mathletics and Reading Eggspress).  While we're not able to read with you, we are following closely the amount of time and activities that you are involving yourself with on Reading Eggspress and Mathletics.  Remember to check out some of the books in the Reading Eggs library too!

This week, the Optional Activities provide opportunities: to cook with the sun, learn about whitebait and create your own 3D pencil. Remember you can choose to do some or all of these activities.  Also, if you missed out on an activity from a previous week it is okay to go back and do that one too. This week there is a 2 week project as it is a lot of learning - Building Blocks of Geometry - take your time, do a little everyday, and use your imagination to explore the buildings around the world.

Please continue to share photos with your teacher, so they can add your learning stories and examples of work to your class webpage. Our challenge for you is to try and make it a goal this week to send at least 1 photo to your class teacher. Help make our class Webpage look amazing!

We hope you enjoyed your Google Meet sessions so far and have had a chance to explore the areas that Ms Watson shared with you.  This week your class teacher will be hosting and can’t wait to meet with you. If you haven’t joined a session yet, join this week!

Term 4

Week 3 E-Letters

Year 5/6 - Rooms 8, 9, 10, 11 & 13

Kia ora Kea Whanau,

Welcome to Week 3 of Term 4. It’s a busy time of year as we get closer to the end of the year. This week it’s Guy Fawkes on November 5th but it’s unlikely they’ll be much of a celebration with fireworks this year. If you’re unsure why New Zealand has such a celebration, check out this weeks activity in the E-Letter for Week 3, 1 November.

There is also a fun activity if you’re an animal lover. If you don’t have a printer, you might know how to write on a PDF, or you can just write separately on a piece of paper.

Don’t forget to do the core curriculum subjects: Maths, Reading and Writing by using the online platforms, including the wonderful interactive Virtual Writing lounge which has 5 prompts to get you started on a task and a tonne of resources to help you! Please share your work and adventures with your teacher so they can share them with your class. Have fun with all the activities and keep looking after yourselves!

Year 7/8 - Rooms 12 & 14

Kia Ora Whānau, We hope this email finds you and your family safe and well.   Welcome back to Term 4. Once again we have found ourselves in the situation of learning at home. We are continuing with the same format for distance learning as we had last term.   We appreciate that everyone’s situation is different so please prioritise Whānau health and wellbeing into your daily schedules.   Like last term, our daily expectations for  Year 7 & 8 Learners are as follows:

  • Two short Google Classroom Daily Tasks
  • 20 mins Epic! Reading,
  • 20 mins Mathletics,
  • 20 mins Wordflyers.
Students are able to email us and chat within the document they are working on

if they need some extra support.  Please keep on sending photos for our web pages. Remember, these photos can be of learning and/or other things you are doing at home (e.g. baking, building, creating, learning life skills). We encourage learners to check their class web pages regularly, it’s a fantastic way to keep in touch and to see what their classmates are doing.  Keep checking the school Website and Facebook page for information about Term 4 and our Covid Levels.  Information will be sent out on HERO. Please reach out for help if you need it. We are thinking of you all! Mrs Fraser and Miss W
