Pokeno School

Pokeno School has lots of TERRIFIC Kids!! We also have the Kiwanis TERRIFIC Kids programme at our school.
What is Terrific Kids?
Terrific Kids is a Kiwanis Kids programme promoting character development and good citizenship. TERRIFIC is an acronym meaning: Thoughtful Enthusiastic Respectful Responsible Inclusive Friendly  Inquisitive  Capable
How does it work?
Every two weeks we will have a ‘Fortnightly Focus’. For example, the first two weeks will  focus on the word thoughtful. Classes will discuss what it means to be thoughtful and ways that we can display this through our actions and behaviours. At the end of the two weeks each teacher will choose a child from their class who has been consistently thoughtful. Those children will receive a certificate at the school assembly.
At the end of each term we will have a special ‘Terrific Kids’ assembly. One or two members from the Papakura Kiwanis will come along and present one terrific child from each class, who has displayed ALL of the terrific qualities over the course of the term with a special certificate and a $50 book voucher!
Who is providing the $50 book voucher?
The Papakura Kiwanis club are very generously providing the school with one $50 voucher per class every term.
Who are Kiwanis?
Kiwanis is a global organisation of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
